On My Way To Durango!

I am so excited to escape Phoenix’s never-ending heat and head to Durango, Colorado, for the Durango Autumn Arts Festival! Now in its 32nd season, this two-day festival is considered among the top art festivals in the country and gives its 8,000 attendees the opportunity to discover top-notch artists and craftspeople from throughout the Southwest.

I’ll be located in booth 52 near 10th Street, so if you’re looking for a little end-of-summer getaway, I promise this is a trip you’ll enjoy. Durango is a beautiful place to visit, and the festival is always a wonderful experience!

As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I’ve been working on turquoise pieces, which are always so popular with my clients who attend the show. Now I just need to decide what else to pack!

I have decided to take a large selection of my Patina jewelry with me to Durango. The colors in the Patina Collection are very reminiscent of Colorado - especially the autumn leaves. I think customers will love finding a piece of jewelry that echoes the nature around them!

Copper and torched sterling silver, which I refer to as my Silver Fusion Collection, is another great addition to the group of pieces I’ll be showing. This jewelry is created by placing pieces of sterling silver on copper and then using a torch to melt and fuse the silver to the copper. The result is a unique, three-dimensional look that gives each piece its own character.

Cuffs are very popular with both women and men, and these two have been created using the Silver Fusion technique. I have a whole collection dedicated to cuffs, and you can find both of these pieces on the website.

This cast sterling silver piece, of which I’m taking several from the Waterlily Collection, was created by pouring molten silver into water and then letting nature take its course. The result is this beautiful abstract form, which I enhanced with a gray freshwater pearl.

I believe I’m taking a wonderful cross-section of my work to Durango, with something to appeal to many of those attending the festival.

The show dates are Saturday and Sunday, September 19th and 20th, and I’ll be there both days from 10 AM to 5 PM. Come enjoy the cooler weather, beautiful surroundings, and a wonderful weekend of art!
