February's Hue: Embracing the Color Pink

"Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink." – Lilly Pulitzer

Pink, and all its shades, is the color that is associated with the month of February.

Pink represents love, friendship, compassion, and harmony. Some believe it possesses a calming influence on the mind, fostering a connection with emotions and one's inner self. The energy of pink promotes balance, composure, and tranquility in a person’s life.

Pink has been mainly associated with femininity in these modern times but that was not always the case. Back in the Middle Ages red was the masculine color choice in apparel, and pink as a pale version of red, was deemed appropriate for young boys. This changed well over a hundred years later when it began to be appropriated as a feminine color. With the advent of post war production, color became more important in apparel and the shift in pink from masculine to feminine in western cultures became more pronounced.

These beautiful tourmaline earrings are the epitome of "Pretty in Pink". 5mm cabochon stones are dangled above .5" reticulated sterling silver discs and finished with sterling leverback earwires.
