2026 Pantone Color of the Year

Cloud Dancer

For over 25 years, the Pantone Color Institute has selected a color that will influence fashion, products, and interiors for the coming year. For 2026, the Color of the Year is Cloud Dancer. According to Pantone, “Cloud Dancer, a lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection. A billowy white imbued with serenity, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer encourages true relaxation and focus, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe, making room for innovation.”

What could correlate with Cloud Dancer? How about pearls? These lovely 5mm white Coin Pearls, situated atop a reticulated sterling silver disc, evoke serenity. They are classic and simple and go well with the thoughts behind Pantone’s choice.

This choice is especially confusing to me because Pantone is a global color-matching system that assigns specific numbers to precise shades, making it possible for printers and manufacturers to recreate colors exactly. Pantone is a company rooted in pigments, which makes the choice of white particularly odd, since white is essentially the absence of pigment. I guess I understand their pick by choosing something that is quiet and calming but I do not understand how it ties in with the mission of their company which is to be the universal language of color.

I am very partial to these simple open teardrop shapes with suspended white 5mm fresh water pearls. Not only do I love their appearance, but they can be worn in two ways making them an even more versatile earring.

The piece that I believe captures the feel of Cloud Dancer is this reticulated sterling silver pendant hung with a 10mm white freshwater pearl.  It is softly luminous, peaceful and open, projecting an impression of quiet confidence. This is the perfect pendant for the upcoming New Year.
