Peridot can be discovered in various locations across the globe. Some notable sources include Egypt, Myanmar (Burma), Pakistan, China, Vietnam, and the United States (Arizona, Hawaii). Peridot has also been detected in rare instances within meteorites that have fallen to Earth. These extraterrestrial Peridots are considered exceptionally rare and valuable.
Peridot is relatively soft compared to other gemstones, ranking around 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness and should be stored where other gems cannot scratch it. As with many other gemstones, clean Peridot with warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush to remove any dirt and debris, rinse then blot with a soft cloth. Known for its captivating green hue, Peridot remains a cherished gemstone that draws admiration from all who behold it.
