My inspiration for Pantone's Color of the Year Peach Fuzz, is Morganite

In 1963, Pantone unveiled the Color Matching System, a globally adopted standardized color matching tool. This innovative and revolutionary system provided designers with a precise method to replicate consistent colors across various realms, encompassing artistic, manufacturing, and print domains and is used on a worldwide basis today.

As a playful extension of their Color Matching System, Pantone initiated the tradition of naming the Color of the Year 25 years ago. From Cerulean Blue in 2000 to Honeysuckle in 2011, Radiant Orchid in 2014, Greenery in 2017, and beyond, each and every color was a well thought out pick predicting the feelings and optimsm of the upcoming year. Last year it was Viva Magenta (not my favorite) and for 2022 it was Very Peri (which I loved). For all designers, whether we are in apparel, home furnishings and even jewelry, this is a very important reference point to include in our designs. I'm delighted to introduce the 2024 Color of the Year – Peach Fuzz, with my personal interpretation inspired by the gemstone Morganite.

Rainbow

Situated between shades of pink and orange, Peach Fuzz embodies a gentle peach tone infused with a nostalgic aura. This warm and comforting color exudes a fresh modern feel and instills a sense of empathy and kindness.

According to Pantone, "We chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless."

In Arizona we are blessed to see variations of this color in our sunrises and sunsets and even rainbows! My inspiration after viewing Peach Fuzz is the beautiful gemstone Morganite.

With its peachy-pinky-orangey hue, it is a feminine and delightful gemstone, perfect for pendants, earrings and even engagement rings and offers a unique and special alternative to diamonds. Which is why I've chosen Morganite to embody this year's color, Peach Fuzz.

Discovered in 1910 in Madagascar by George Kunz, then chief gemologist for Tiffany & Co., the stone was later named in honor of J.P. Morgan, the renowned philanthropist and financier.

Morganite is a semiprecious gemstone from the beryl family, a mineral, which includes aquamarines and emeralds. It has a hardness rating of 7-8 on the Mohs scale compared to Diamonds with a hardness of 10, making it more susceptible to scratches but still safe for everyday wear.

Some feel this crystal is known for its physical healing properties, such as ensuring heart health, and enhancing respiratory function. It is even believed to possess emotional healing qualities, fostering self-love, self-respect, and self-care.

Caring your Morganite is easy. Clean it with warm soapy water and a soft child's toothbrush, rinse thoroughly, and then dry with a soft towel or a blow dryer. Following these simple steps will ensure a lifetime of enjoyment.
